This is my journey recreating the R. Sanderson Cottage.  The cottage was originally completed in the summer of 1871.

Custom fabricated door hood and brackets were replicated for façade restoration of circa 1873 flat-front Italianate

Existing window hood and brackets with finials on the Wee 'Ouse.

Because Its Finally Mine

Well  the plan is to start pulling out the old starting in February.  Things that will be pulled include the old kitchen, bathroom sink, tub surround and overall just cleaning the place up.
i will be posting videos and the process!
Just to be clear... Because of COVID some of the paperwork is not yet completed but the Corporation has assured me that we can complete the paperwork in the Spring when the Grove opens for the Summer.

COVID Strikes Again. Again

We had hoped to be signing on the cottage a couple weeks ago after putting together lots of quotes and feeling like it was a great move for me and my daughter.  But here we are again... In quarantine.
We will hopefully get to close at this end of this lock down.
Maybe we can get some work started in February?
We shall see.

Wish us luck!

For people that have not been through this... either you lived in an area where COVID-19 rates were low or you just kept to yourself... here is how it worked for us.

  1. Get the call. Your child was a close contact of someone in her school community.
  2. Chat with the public health nurse.  Explain that you understand how quarantine works and that you also understand that there is no such thing as a close contact of a close contact.
  3. Explain to everyone you know that the mini is not sick but was exposed to COVID and that we will be staying home for the next 10 days.
  4. Ask people to send cards and beep and just chat on the phone because a year of this is getting really long.

Happy New Year

Well the dust of the holidays is starting to settle and the checks are in the mail for the cottage.
I hope you bookmark this site and keep up with the progress.

Update: Because if COVID the checks didn't arrive till 1/21/21!!  Unfortunately we won't be closing till late January or Early February!
